SEAN MCCONVILLE REVIEWS 2016 AWARDS (NOMINEES)
Welcome, welcome one and all. 2016 is about to close it curtains. People have been very vocal about how much 2016 has been the most recent year to truly suck for everyone. But through the celebrity deaths, bizarre political events and various crisis’, films have remained as tough as steel and have offered some of the most enthralling stories and visuals to satisfy our need to escape from the real world.
But before we give 2016 its final wave goodbye, we must reflect on how this year of cinema has given to us film that are destined to be future classics, films that are destined to be thrown in the bargain big at a supermarket, and films that should under no circumstances be viewed by the human eyes or risk blindness.
We have 8 categories this year, as we will with every year, including Best Film, Worst Film and Most Disappointing Film of the year, but there are a few we have to explain before I announce the nominees…
Best Animated Film of 2016: I’ve decided that the animated films of every year should go into their own category solely down to personal taste so if you we wondering why there are no animated films in the best film category, you have your answer.
Surprise of the Year: The types of film you’ll see here are the ones that everyone thought would receive negative reviews or just be plain awful, however they managed to turn that opinion around and actually become an enjoyable film to watch that set out what the film was meant to do.
The Meh Award: This award will go to the blandest of the bland, the films that were neither good nor bad but still watchable. these film offered no turn of heads and will be marked in the cinematic history book as just another film.
The One to Watch Award: This award isn’t actually on film, instead this will go to the individual who has had the beginnings of a bright shining star this year and who’s future works are the ones to pay attention to in 2017 or the late future.
(All films selected are in time with the UK release date).
